ZipZap Canada Inc. (for itself, and on behalf of its subsidiaries and affiliated entities, “ZipZap”) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. We value your trust and want you to understand how we protect, collect, use and disclose the personal information you share with us.

This privacy statement applies to personal information we obtain anytime you interact with ZipZap such as when you visit our website (www.zipzap.me), use the Mobile Application or contact Support. We want to ensure you are aware of our practices for collecting and processing personal information.

This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 20, 2015.

What we collect

We may collect, process and store the following information:

Personal information that you submit when signing up, including name, address, date of birth, email address and telephone number.

Information you provide us when you want us to carry out a transaction, such as recipient’s name and bank account details.

Details of anytime you visit the website or mobile application.

Correspondence when you contact Support, via email, social media or other channels.

Data received from third parties, such as identity verification providers and other business partners.

How we use it

We use personal information to complete your transaction, administer any problems that may arise in processing the transaction, to better understand and manage our ongoing relationship with you, to assure good service, to prevent fraud and abuse, for purposes of verification and risk management and otherwise with consent or as permitted or required by law.

ZipZap may store personal information on databases for the purposes of the administration of our business, including our ongoing relationship with you, for market research and, only with your consent, for direct marketing purposes. As permitted by applicable law, we may merge personal information with public information or other information received from reputable vendors to update contact information or to enhance demographic profiles. We will retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you wish to request that we remove your information from our systems and no longer provide you with services you may contact us through the channels mentioned below. We retain your information as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations and we will securely remove your information when we no longer have need to retain it. 

Who we share it with

ZipZap will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information. We may share all of the information, as described above, with selected third parties, including business partners and affiliates in connection with goods and services these parties perform for, or with ZipZap for the uses described in “How we use it” and for other purposes as permitted or required by law. In particular, use of your personal information for marketing purposes by ZipZap will always be made with your consent and in compliance with the applicable law regarding customer consent. Disclosures permitted or required by law may include cooperation with criminal or government investigations, fraud prevention and detection, and responses to a court order or subpoena.

ZipZap may disclose some or all of the personal information to business partners and service providers for the purposes of processing requested transactions, improving the user experience or to perform business support functions on our behalf. Our agreements with service providers will contain confidentiality provisions and restrictions on using this information for any other purpose. If ZipZap becomes involved in a merger, acquisition or any form of sale of some or all its assets, we may disclose personal information to third parties in connection with the evaluation of the transaction. The surviving company, or the acquiring company in the case of a sale of assets, would have access to personal information that would continue to be subject to this privacy statement. 


ZipZap will not use or share your personal information in ways incompatible with the ones described above without providing you a choice. You must opt-out of any sharing of personal information you have authorized or consented to as described above. However, to the extent that applicable law requires express consent or “opt-in” for the collection and use of personal information, ZipZap will maintain processes and procedures to ensure such information is collected with express consent

ZipZap is committed to ensuring that the information we obtain from you is accurate for its intended purpose. You can contact us at any time to review, update, delete or correct (for future use) your personally identifiable information maintained by ZipZap. You can help us maintain accurate records by informing us of changes or modifications to your personal information. 

Data Security

ZipZap utilizes physical, electronic and procedural security measures to protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control. ZipZap offers industry–standard practices and security measures to safeguard and secure the personal information we collect. When you enter sensitive information such as your mobile number, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

Access to personal information is restricted to employees and business partners and service providers who need to have access to that information as described in this privacy statement. ZipZap requires its service providers to observe standards with respect to the security, collection, use and sharing of personal information, and to comply with applicable law. We make reasonable efforts to ensure security on our systems. Despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee that personal information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of our administrative, managerial and technical safeguards. If ZipZap learns of a security systems breach we may post a notice on the ZipZap website. ZipZap may attempt to notify you directly so that you can take appropriate protective steps. By using ZipZap, you agree that ZipZap may communicate with you electronically or via short messaging service (SMS). Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing. To receive free written notice of a security breach (or to withdraw your consent from receiving electronic notice of a security breach) you should notify us. 

Preventing Identity Theft

ZipZap is dedicated to protecting your personal information. Please do not send confidential personal information such as social security numbers, government identification numbers, or account numbers to ZipZap via an unsecured email message.

Do not be misled by emails that appear to be from ZipZap and ask for personal information. If you receive a suspicious email requesting your personal information, please forward the email immediately to [email protected]


When you browse our websites or request pages, we automatically collect certain information about your visit. Terms of Service


The Terms of Service (“TOS”) govern the terms under which the users (“you”) may access and use the website and the services associated with it. By accessing, registering and using the website and the services, you agree to be bound by the terms in the TOS.   

These TOS govern the business of ZipZap Canada Inc. (“ZipZap”), a company registered under number BC1034004 in British Columbia, Canada, with it’s registered office at 123 Cambie Street, Floor 6, Vancouver BC, V6B 1B8. ZipZap is regulated by the Financial Transaction and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (“FINTRAC”) and registered under number M15818126.

These TOS are effective as of April 20, 2015.

ZipZap Service

The ZipZap Service is a service to send money internationally to friends and family. The ZipZap Service allows you to send money through a mobile application or a web-based application. The use of the ZipZap Service is restricted to registered and verified ZipZap users.

Registration for ZipZap Service

To send money with the ZipZap Service you have to register with ZipZap and create an account. By Canadian law ZipZap is required to obtain and verify your personal information, including name, home address, date of birth and any other information to verify your identity. Please read our Privacy Policy to learn more about what information we obtain, how we use and secure this information.

The ZipZap Service to send money is only available for users 18 years or older and in the capacity to form legally binding contracts.

Within Canada, the ZipZap Service is restricted to residents of British Columbia and Ontario. ZipZap is continuously working to make the ZipZap Service available for everyone, wherever they want to send money to and from. Please contact us through one of the channels mentioned below if you have specific requests.

Payment for ZipZap Service

Any potential fees for the use of the ZipZap Service will be clearly stated before charged to you. The fee(s) will be charged on the payment method you provided ZipZap.  By confirming the transaction you agree on the fee(s) as stated.

When you pay for the transaction in Canadian Dollar (“CAD”), the recipient will receive the money in the local currency of the country of residence. There is a difference between the exchange rate at which ZipZap buys the local currency and the exchange provided to you. ZipZap will clearly state the exchange rate before every transaction.

ZipZap is not responsible for fees that may be charged by the issuer of the payment method you used. Please contact your financial institution for any unexpected charges to your account.

Restrictions to ZipZap Service

You are only to open one (1) ZipZap Account, without our prior written approval.

The ZipZap Service is for personal use only. You can use the ZipZap Service to send money to people you personally know, like friends and family. ZipZap does not accept the use of the ZipZap Service for commercial purposes, to buy goods and services or to make donations to charitable institutions.

ZipZap has enabled limitations to the amount that can be transferred per transaction and on aggregated basis. The limit will depend, among other things, on your verification status. ZipZap may establish and change these limits at any time.

ZipZap does not allow the use of the ZipZap Service for any of the following: gambling, sexually-oriented services, money laundering, illegal substances, the funding of terrorist organizations or any illegal activity or service.

Abuse of ZipZap Account 

You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your ZipZap Account. In the event of misuse or suspected misuse of your ZipZap Account, you must immediately notify ZipZap. ZipZap can block your ZipZap Account in cases of suspected abuse. You are responsible for unauthorized use of or access to your ZipZap Account.

Termination of ZipZap Account

ZipZap reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate your ZipZap Account and your use of the ZipZap Service, either temporarily or permanently in the event of unacceptable user behavior, violation of the TOS, breaches or attempts to breach the security of the ZipZap Service, or any other reason ZipZap deems necessary. 

Personal information

ZipZap takes safeguarding your privacy very seriously. By establishing a ZipZap Account and providing personal information, you authorize ZipZap to process, store and, when necessary, share your personal information to complete transactions.

ZipZap’s employees are authorized to access all data related to your use of ZipZap Service when necessary. This typically includes investigating suspicious transactions, technical problems and processing problems.

Transaction Details & Processing

It is your responsibility to make sure that all the transaction details, including the amount to send and the recipient information are accurate before submitting the transaction. Once a transaction is submitted it is not possible to change any of the transaction details.

A transaction may be cancelled at any time until fourteen (14) days after you have submitted the transaction or until ZipZap has completed the transaction by delivering the money to the recipient. Any refunds will be credited back to the payment method you used to fund the transaction. ZipZap may charge a cancellation fee.

In the case you want to cancel a transaction you are required to send a written request to one of the channels mentioned below. To process to refund properly, please add your full name, address and phone number, as well as the transaction number, amount and date, and the reason for your refund request.

ZipZap Service Availability

ZipZap reserves the right to perform maintenance or make changes to ZipZap at any time it sees fit. This may result in periods during which the ZipZap Service is temporarily unavailable. ZipZap will post a notice of system interruptions in advance whenever possible however it is not required to do so and is not responsible for any damages or losses due to the unavailability of the ZipZap Service.

Electronic Communications

The TOS shall be entered into electronically and future communications from ZipZap to you may be provided by electronic means. These communications include, but are not limited to, your records of transactions, modifications to these TOS and any customer service communications.

Intellectual Property

The ZipZap Service, including all content of the website, graphics, logos and images, as well as all other ZipZap copyrights, trademarks, service marks, products and service names are the exclusive property of ZipZap, and may not be used for any purpose without express written permission from ZipZap.


You are responsible for the activities performed under your ZipZap Account. In no event shall ZipZap, ZipZap’s service providers, partners or employees be liable for any direct or indirect damages or losses. ZipZap’s liability to you for any claims or damages related to your use of ZipZap shall not exceed the face value of any payments (including fees) made utilizing the ZipZap Service.


You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless ZipZap and its officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents, licensors, representatives, and third-party providers (collectively the “ZipZap Indemnitee”) from and against all liability, claims, obligations, fines, liens, penalties, actions, losses, costs, damages, expenses and demands of whatever kind, including attorneys’ fees and costs (collectively “Damages”) as a result of a third party cause of action or other allegation that arises from, is based on, related to or is in connection with any of the following: (i) the breach, performance or lack of performance of this agreement by, or the carelessness, negligence or improper conduct or, indemnifying party; (ii) damage to property of a ZipZap Indemnitee proximately caused by the acts or omissions of the indemnifying party, except to the extent such claims and demands arise solely out of the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a ZipZap Indemnitee; (iii) any litigation to which a ZipZap Indemnitee becomes a party as a result of the acts or omissions of the indemnifying party, except to the extent such litigation arises solely out of a breach by the a ZipZap Indemnitee of this Agreement or the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a ZipZap Indemnitee; (iv) an breach of any of the representations or warranties contained in this Agreement.  ZipZap reserves the right to assume, at their sole expense, the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to this indemnification by you, in which event you agree to fully cooperate with the ZipZap Indemnitees in asserting any available defenses. 


ZipZap reserves the right to modify the TOS at any time. Such changes shall become effective immediately upon the posting on the ZipZap website. Your continued use of the ZipZap Service following the posting of changes will constitute your acceptance of the revised TOS.

What is ZipZap?
ZipZap is a mobile application that enables individuals in Canada to send money internationally. ZipZap is the best and easiest way to send money to your friends and family for special occasions, such as a birthday, a wedding or a baptism.

What type of phone do I need to use ZipZap?
ZipZap is currently only available for individuals with an Android phone. The iOS app will be released in the near future. If you are an iPhone users, you can visit zipzap.me, click on the “Where is the iPhone App” button and provide your email address so that we can notify you once the iOS app is released.

I do not have a smartphone, can I still use ZipZap? 
Currently you can only send money with ZipZap if you have a smartphone. We will be launching a web application in the near future. Please send an email to [email protected] if you want to be notified once the web application is available.

What do I need in order to register with ZipZap?
Registering is very easy! You can create an account with your email address and phone number. You can complete the registration by adding your address and date of birth.

Please note that you have to be a Canadian resident to be able to use ZipZap.

Why do I need to submit personal information?
We ask you to submit personal information to ensure that ZipZap is a safe environment for everyone. By submitting your information we validate that every individual that uses ZipZap is a real person.

I would like to visit you in person, where are your offices located?
We are headquartered in the Gastown area of downtown Vancouver.  However, unlike traditional money transfer companies, we do not have any physical retail locations. The advantage is that we lower the operational costs significantly, which allows us to offer you a better service for less costs!

How is ZipZap different from all the other money transfer companies?
ZipZap is a technology company and introducing new technologies to the money transfer industry we believe we can offer a better service. Benefits of ZipZap are:

  • You can send as little as $25 without paying fixed costs of $8-10 CAD per transaction.
  • You can send money anytime, from anywhere which is great all the time but especially when there is an emergency. You should never have to take time off from work and drive to a retail location to send a remittance that you can do with a few clicks on your coffee break using your phone!



How do I pay for the transfer?
You can pay for your transfer by logging in to your bank account with Interac Online. The app will redirect you to the safe environment of your bank from where you can initiate the transfer. Your bank User Name and Password is never exposed or transmitted to ZipZap

My bank is not listed; do you have other ways to pay for the transfer?
Interac Online only supports the banks listed. We are currently working on adding additional payment methods to pay for the transfer including debit cards.

Why can I only send money from Canada?
ZipZap needs a license in every country to be able to offer its product to residents of that specific country. Currently ZipZap is only licensed in Canada. But don’t worry; we will be adding other countries in the near future. If you have specific requests, please send an email to [email protected]

How long will it take for the money to arrive?
A transfer can take 1- 2 days. The speed will depend the payment method chosen for payout and the verification level of the sender.

How much money can I send?
You can send up to $995 per day and a maximum of $3,000 per month.

How much does it cost to send money with ZipZap?
Here comes the good news: ZipZap doesn’t charge you any fixed fees to send money.

Please note that ZipZap takes a small percentage when it converts money from sending currency to receiving currency.   The conversion rate we quote you at the time of remittance includes our commission and there are no additional fees charged to you or to your recipient.



Why can I only send money to the Philippines?
We will be adding other countries such as India in the near future. If you have any specific requests, please send an email to [email protected]

What are the different ways that money can be received?
You have two option for your friends and family to receive the money:

  • Bank transfer to all the major banks, including BDI, BDO, PNB and Metrobank.
  • Cash pick-up at Cebuana Lhuillier, M Lhuillier, Palawan Express and LBC.

I don’t see the receiving option that I want; what can I do?
We are working on adding additional partners in the Philippines. If you have specific requests, please contact us at [email protected]

How much does it cost for my friends and family to receive the money?
Your friends and family will not have to pay any costs once they receive the money. When you create the transfer you will see exactly how much your friends and family in the Philippines will receive.



How safe is it to send money online? 
Sending money with ZipZap is very safe.

We have tested our app and our servers extensively and keep on doing so on a daily basis, to make sure that you, your money and personal information is protected.

Additionally, we only work with the best partners and ensure that they operate under the same safety standards as we do.

I lost my phone and I am afraid someone else can now access my ZipZap account. What should I do? 
You have secured your account with a password, therefore it should be difficult for someone else to access your account. If you would like to temporarily block your account, please contact [email protected]

I forgot my password, how can I access my account again?
No worries! Go to the Log In screen on the app and click on ‘Forgot Password’. Enter your email address and date of birth and we will send you a new, temporary password.
